This past Sunday, the Children’s Church Ministry at First Assembly of God Wortmanville (FAOGW) presented their Annual Christmas Presentation to a virtual audience of more than 105 children, parents and friends of the fellowship, inspired by Isaiah 7:14. This Ministry has been running programmes for our children for over three decades and can trace its genesis to Sunday, 7th May 1989. It was awesome to see the reaping season from the sowing by this Ministry.

Icebreakers and Christmas Meals
Sister Angulie Paruag, a Children’s Church alumni who now has her daughter registered in the programme from New York, had an amazing icebreaker session with our children. They boldly shared about their favourite meals and drinks for the Christmas season including sorrel and ginger beer beverages, pepper pot, fried rice and other delicacies. It did not go unnoticed how adept these young kids are with the technology and virtual protocols.
Deacon Lorex Edwards officially opened the programme with a rousing rendition of ‘Oh, Come Let Us Adore Him’ as he joined forces with our lustily singing young voices. He then handed over to the dynamic Chairperson – eight year old Rebecca McCullock. Our children truly understand ministry and the power of God’s Word as seen in the demonstration of the excellent quality of worship (by Prosperity Outstation), Scripture reading, songs, dance and poems – a complete Christmas message. Their ages ranged from 4years old and upwards.
The Signs of the Saviour’s Birth
Matthew Farrier opened with scripture reading from Matthew 1:18-20, while five year old Samuel Corbin from Switzerland presented his poem ‘Real Joy’. Chasidy Forde ministered in dance to the rendition of ‘Happy Birthday Jesus’ and Abigail DaSilva blew us away with her solo of “Silent Night.” Next was a poem – ‘There Is More to Christmas’ – by Jedidiah Thomas from California. This was followed with a duet by Shalome and Devon Roberts. Seven year old Amariah Ganpat gave a personal expression of what Christmas means to her, reminding us of how we can celebrate the birthday of Jesus the way parents celebrate their children. What amazing insight from one of our youngest celebrants.
Samuel Klass performed his poem with boldness and Hezekiah Ince from FAOG Judah Outstation did exceptionally well as he recited ‘The Star.’ Eliana Ganpat danced into our hearts. Amanda Gorman (US poet laureate) or Grace Nichols (Guyanese winner of the Queen’s Gold Medal 2021 for poetry – UK) would be impressed by our embrace of the spoken word, as we saw a second generation Children’s Church member from New York, Annabel Paruag, present her poem with such poise. She probed the audience to answer: “…shouldn’t we celebrate the day that Christ came to earth?”
Josiah Lee gave a rendition of ‘Noel’, which was a story of amazing love, and ushered in the final dance from FAOG Parfaite Harmonie Outstation. The Adams boys reminded us that Christmas Is Forever about Light and Sacrifice.
One hour goes by quickly when you are having fun and glorifying Jesus. The smiling faces of our children and the active virtual chat showed the real joy of the Saviour’s birth, a sign that our world can be healed with a breath of fresh air and belief that our young generation can nurture.
Leadership and Service
Kudos to the Children’s Church leadership who continue to develop this powerful ministry of kingdom change agents. Minister Gale Doris (Coordinator) offered a Vote of Thanks. The involvement of the FAOGW Diaspora members was evident throughout the programme and included closing remarks by Sister Angulie (Simone) Paruag from New York, who brought the curtains down on our Annual Children’s Church Christmas Presentation.
May the signs of Christ’s birth be felt deep in our spirits and bring forth the real joy of His birth!
Note: The main programmes of our FAOGW Children’s Church include Children’s Sunday Service where our children are given the opportunity to pray, lead in worship, present sermonettes and are taught the Word of God. They are also trained in drama, poetry, puppetry, elocution and Bible reading as well as engaging in prayer walks and track distribution. You are invited to join our Sunday School classes at 10:30 hrs every Sunday hosted via ZOOM (since September 2020).
